The last three years I have been busy with traveling in winter and haven’t been as much in the mountains as the years before. That’s why I decided to take some time off for compensation! To share my passion I invite friends from all over the world to join me during the whole season and show them the beautiful mountains I am living in.
It all kicked off with a trip to Saalbach with my friend Kirsten from the UK. As an absolute beginner who has never been to the mountains I chose Saalbach for Kirsten to get her into the alpine spirit. The area offers everything a newbie needs: good skiing instructors, flat slopes up on the mountain, après ski, perfect panorama and luxury places to stay. Furthermore I just love Saalbach as I got friends there and it basically feels like home. Plus, never underestimate free-ride options in Saalbach! The brand new Aveninda Mountain Lodge was our home base for 4 nights.
The super fancy design apartments are located just at the entrance of Saalbach downtown. I didn’t manage to checkout the sauna, but if you are more than two people it is not even expensive (about 200€/person). One ski school which I highly to recommend is Heugenhauser based just next to the cable car at Schönleiten. The instructors are on a high level concerning training methods and my friend Kirsten just got up on the mountain after one hour. At Bernkogel you can find an easy piste just perfect for beginners including the nice mountain view. I now know this piste also quite well as I took several videos, did some pick up service for my friend getting lost even I was not so sure how you can get lost there! It makes me super happy when I can share my passion and show someone who is not familiar with this kind of lifestyle my way of having fun up there in the mountains. My personal, luxury ski bum travel services included also a sledge trip to Spielberghaus with my friends. Kirsten was introduced to famous „nagln“ and the Schnaps after each round definitely helped us to find the way back to Saalbach.
Besides that I enjoyed to explore new options with the Fieberbrunn connection and found a bit of nice powder. After three winters being a travel bird – I am at home baby, and I love it!
My next visitor will arrive in February and we will do „Argentina goes Schladming“! Until then I am out there exploring some new playgrounds! #yiihaaa
